Basically, “Project Glass” is a set of eyeglasses that are connected to the internet and project online data in front of your eyes in the physical world. They have a very futuristic, almost StarTrek look, even furthering their futuristic appeal.
However, this project is still in its preliminary phase, and will not be released to the public for some time now.
These events in San Francisco and New York are specifically for software developers. These developers will attend these events, will be given a prototype of the glasses, and will provide their feedback, ideas, things they like and dislike about the glasses. Once all of this information has been collected, the Google team will completely recreate the glasses again, hopefully with the intent of releasing them for the public to use.
However, a few of the developers and testers have been spotted wearing them around New York City. One person was even sited wearing these glasses with prescription lenses attached for those with impaired vision.
Although this is still prototype software, people have been impatiently awaiting any information leak they can get on these new glasses. Hopefully after the completion of the two events in San Francisco and New York, information leaks will be inevitable and unavoidable, providing us with new and exciting information about this innovative invention by Google.
